Dukee started his morning by laying on the bench and looking out the window. After watching a few birds for awhile, he decided to climb into Mia’s pup up cube on the other bench. Inside the pop up is an old toy Santa that chimes a little when moved.
“Shh, be quiet,” Dukee said as he laid down and got comfortable.
Only a couple of minutes went by when Mia quietly crept into the dining area. She knew what made that sound she heard and where it was. Mia looked at the bench by the window and didn't see Dukee. He must be in my pop up, she thought. As she crept closer to the benches, Dukee turned his head and saw Mia looking at him.
“Hey, that's mine you know,” Mia said.
“I know. I'm not hurting it, I'm just lying in it,” Dukee said.
“Okay, but don't scratch in it,” Mia said and jumped up onto the bench by the window.
“I won't… It was this toy in here that gave me away wasn't it?” Dukee asked.
Mia giggled, “yes. As soft of a sound that it has, I still heard it in my room.”
“Oh, sorry. I didn't wake Auntie did I?” Dukee asked.
“No… I don’t think so anyway,” Mia said.
Even though Mia was looking at Dukee, she saw a shadow out of the corner of her eye. She turned her head toward the window and saw a couple of Ibis birds fly over the house.
“What did you see?” Dukee asked.
“A couple of those long beak birds flew over,” Mia said.
“Oh, yeah some flew by before too,” Dukee said and quickly licked his leg.
Mia saw how quickly Dukee moved his leg and licked it so she asked, “what's wrong?”
“Oh, sometimes I get a strange feeling like something biting me but I know there's nothing there,” Dukee said and licked his leg again.
“Oh, I get that sometimes too. It is strange,” Mia said and then looked back out the window.
“Yes it is,” Dukee said in between his licking.
Dukee then relaxed in the pop up while Mia enjoyed watching the birds. Some birds would fly out of the tree while other's flew down onto the tree. Some birds would also land on the grass briefly. Mia softly chattered at them all but especially at the small yellow and green finches. We get quite a variety of birds that visit our yard. We've seen Finches, Swallow’s, Ibis, Robin's, Western Bluebird, and probably some I hadn't even noticed. All I know is that they keep Mia and Dukee entertained, which is good.
