Dukee was drinking his water in his bedroom when he heard Mia run past it. He walked into the family room to see which direction she went but didn’t see her. Only a few seconds passed though when Mia ran fast back into the hallway. She saw Dukee sitting right in her path and tried to stop but slid right into him. Dukee hopped backwards and looked at Mia.
Mia giggled, “Sorry about that. I couldn't stop.”
Dukee snickered, “that's okay. It's because you have such furry feet.”
“I know,” Mia said before she took off towards her bedroom.
With Mia now in her room, Dukee walked down the hallway and up to the narrow window by the front door. He looked outside and scanned the front porch for a lizard. When he looked to the right side, he saw a lizard scurry toward the house window. Dukee then jumped up onto the side table and then carefully hopped down onto the blanket that’s on top of Mia’s litter box cabinet. He slowly peeked around the corner of the window and saw the lizard looking at him.
Just then, Mia ran back into the living room and jumped up onto the kitty tower. She hopped into the tunnel part of it and saw what Dukee was looking at.
“Oh, a lizard, huh?” Mia said breathing heavily.
“Yep, and it’s watching me I think,” Dukee slowly sat down.
“It sure looks like it, doesn’t it?” Mia said.
“Yep. I’m going to see if I can scare it,” Dukee said.
Mia watched him as he crept closer to the window. The lizard turned it’s back to Dukee so Dukee pounced at the window. Thud, Dukee hit the window. The lizard disappeared around the corner so Dukee backed up and laid down on the blanket.
“I do that too and never get anywhere,” Mia said.
“That’s because I think they know that we can’t get them,” Dukee said and glanced back at Mia.
“They must think that we are stupid,” Mia said.
“Maybe, but I know that I’m not, I just have fun doing it,” Dukee said.
Mia stretched her paw out of the tunnel and then pulled it back in. She then rolled over inside of the tunnel and giggled. Dukee just watched one of the neighbors as they walked by with their dog.
“Look,” Mia said.
“At what?” Dukee looked around outside.
“At me. Look at me,” Mia giggled.
“Why?” Dukee said.
“Because,” Mia said with her head hanging down.
Dukee finally turned and looked at Mia. He saw her hanging upside down and giggling.
“What are you doing? You’re silly,” Dukee said and snickered.
“Yep, it’s fun to be silly sometimes,” Mia said.
Dukee looked back out the window, “yes, you’re right, it can be fun sometimes.”
Mia rolled upright and looked out the window too. She was happy that she made Dukee snicker a little. Do you ever do anything silly to make someone smile or laugh? Sometimes someone could use a good laugh if they are feeling down. You might want to try it sometime. I bet you will have fun doing it.
