It was around ten o’clock in the morning when Mia was extra playful. She ran through the family room and up to the front of the house. She put her brakes on and slid about a foot when she saw her Mom standing in front of her. Mia looked up at her Mom and then tried to get a grip on the floor again and run away. After seeing Mia’s furry feet slipping on the floor, it made her Mom giggle.
Mia then ran over toward the fireplace and spun around. As her back end and tail turned, the breeze she created moved the Starbucks bag. She watched it as it slightly bounced and then stopped. Mia then darted into the cut open bottom of the bag and watched as Dukee walked past on his way to the front door.
Dukee looked out the narrow window by the front door and saw a lizard on the floor of the porch. He watched the lizard as it scurried over to the screen and jumped up onto it. When Dukee heard Auntie in the kitchen, he went to see what she was doing. Sometimes what a human is doing can be more interesting than a lizard. Mia waited and thought that Dukee would walk past again but he didn’t. She crept out of the bag and peeked around the end of the reclining sofa but Dukee was gone. He went into the kitchen through the dining room doorway.
Auntie was just getting her coffee and nothing special to eat, so Dukee walked over to the sliding glass door. When Auntie saw Dukee by the door, she walked over and let him out. He trotted out quickly because he thought he saw something on the screen door. It turned out to be some kind of bug flying right outside the door. After the bug flew away, Dukee walked over to the table that is out there and jumped up onto it. He decided to bathe his right side before he hopped down onto the lawn chair.
Dukee laid down and got comfortable, and then saw a squirrel climb up the fence. He watched the squirrel as it scurried along the top of the fence and then up a tree. The weather here has been really nice lately so Dukee has been enjoying it out on the back porch.
Back inside the house, Mia started to play with the orange plastic ring from a bottle. She picked it up with her teeth and then threw it up into the air. Before the ring landed, Mia jumped up into the air and pounced at it. She looked like a young fox as it hopped through the snow. Fluffy and light on her feet. It wasn’t long though before Mia decided that it was time for a little snack. So, she jumped up onto the coffee table and went over to her food dish. A few nibbles of food and she’s ready to go again.
Mia walked over to the kitty tower and looked out the front window. She looked around and watched a pretty blue and orange bird land on the wire that leads to the house. Mia let out a few high squeaks and chatters at the bird which made her Mom look at her. It’s always cute to hear and see a cat talking to another critter.
