Mia was laying in the tunnel part of the kitty tower and looking out the front window. Dukee jumped up onto the side table and walked to the end of it. Dukee didn’t see Mia right away and hopped down onto the top of her litter box cabinet.
Mia looked at Dukee and said, “hey, you chased my lizard away.”
Dukee looked at the tunnel when he heard Mia’s voice, “oh, I didn’t see you there, sorry.”
Dukee laid down on the blanket and looked out the window for the lizard, “I’m sure the lizard will be back soon.”
Mia resituated herself inside of the tunnel, “yes, it probably will be, but you still interfered with what I was doing.”
Dukee looked back at Mia, “what were you doing? It looks like you’re just laying there.”
“I am and I was, but I was also concentrating with my mind and trying to talk to the lizard,” Mia said.
Dukee turned and looked back out the window, “well, what were you trying to tell it?”
“Oh, never mind. I don’t think it was working anyways,” Mia said.
Dukee watched a bird as it swooped down to the ground and then flew back up to the tree.
“I think that bird just got something to eat,” Dukee said.
“Yes, it sure looks like it,” Mia said and then licked her front paw.
“Do you know what tomorrow is?” Mia asked.
Dukee watched another bird fly down and land on the grass, “um, no, what is tomorrow?”
Mia peeked her head more forward, “It’s my Mom’s birthday.”
“Oh, yes, Auntie said something about that… Are you going to do anything special for her?” Dukee asked.
“Um, probably, but I’m not sure what yet,” Mia said.
“Well, I’m sure just being a good girl will be nice for her,” Dukee looked back at Mia.
“Hey, I’m usually a good girl,” Mia said.
“Well, then be a little sweeter,” Dukee snickered.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Mia growled.
“Just that. You have an attitude, a lot. Be extra sweet to her tomorrow.” Dukee got up and glanced at Mia.
“Where are you going?” Mia asked.
“I’m leaving before I get hit,” Dukee snickered again.
“Hey, I’m not that bad am I?” Mia asked.
Dukee jumped up onto the side table and turned to look at Mia, “no, I’m just teasing you. I’m going to see what my mom is doing.”
“Oh, okay,” Mia looked back out the window.
Dukee hopped down to the floor and walked down the hallway. He went into his bedroom and saw that Auntie was working on her computer. He jumped up onto the bed and decided to cuddle up by her.
Mia just watched and waited for the lizard to come back and for her Mom to come into the front living room. I’m going to try and be extra sweet for Mom tomorrow, Mia thought.
