Mia was taking a peaceful nap in the bean bag chair in the front living room. Dukee was playing in the family room with his toy mouse. Everything was going great until Dukee ran down the hallway and into the front living room. When he ran into the living room, he jumped up onto the leather sofa, stopped, and looked around. He meowed and then saw Mia staring at him.
“Do you mind? I’m trying to take a nap here,” Mia said.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know that you were in here,” Dukee said.
Just like that, Dukee turned, jumped down, and ran back into the family room. He hit his squeaky mouse across the floor and then jumped up onto the chaise lounge chair. Mia stayed laying in the bean bag chair but shook her head as she looked toward the hallway. She waited for Dukee to run back into the living room but he didn’t. Mia laid her head back down and closed her eyes. It was quiet for a moment until Dukee jumped down off the lounge chair, ran, and hit the squeaky mouse again.
Mia opened her eyes and just listened to what was going on in the other room. Dukee then jumped up onto the sofa in the family room with a different toy in his mouth. He dropped the toy onto the sofa cushion, and then tapped it onto the floor. Dukee then, hopped down by the toy, tapped it again, and then ran toward the hallway. Mia lifted her head to see if Dukee was going to run back into the front living room, but he didn’t. Dukee slowly walked over to the rug in front of the family room sofa and laid down on it.
Because it got quiet again, Mia put her head back down and closed her eyes. It was almost too quiet now. I wonder what he is doing? He better not be in my bedroom, Mia thought. Mia laid there but the thought of Dukee being in her bedroom bothered her. Mia got up and hopped down off the bean bag chair, and walked down the hallway. She glanced around the family room but didn’t see him. Just before Mia was going to walk past the lounge chair to her room, she heard Dukee’s toenails. He walked from the sliding glass door in the family room, behind the sofa, and toward the kitchen.
Mia quickly ran over to the front of the sofa and quietly crept to the end of it. She waited for Dukee to walk around it so that she could scare him. Dukee stopped when he thought he heard something and bent down to peak under the sofa. Dukee saw Mia’s feet in front of the sofa, so he jumped up onto the back of it. That of course startled Mia and she looked up.
Dukee hopped down onto the sofa cushion and looked at Mia, “what are you doing? I thought that you were napping,”
Mia giggled and walked away from the sofa, “well, I was trying to nap but you kept making noise out here.”
“But I stopped and was looking out the patio doors,” Dukee said.
“I know, but then I thought you might have went into my bedroom,” Mia stopped and said.
“Oh, nope, not this time,” Dukee sat down on the cushion.
“Did you see anything outside?” Mia asked.
“No, not this time,” Dukee itched his neck.
Mia then, turned and walked to the hallway. She was ready to nibble on some of her food in the front living room. Dukee watched Mia briefly before he hopped down off the sofa and walked to his bedroom. He wanted to see what Auntie was doing now. The house was fairly quiet once again. But you never know from one minute to the next what Dukee and Mia might be doing.
