As Dukee laid on the bed next to his mom, he heard Mia’s run quickly down the hallway. He looked toward the doorway and listened for her to run past again. It was not even a minute and Mia ran quickly past Dukee’s bedroom. What is that silly furball doing now, Dukee thought.
Dukee hopped down off the bed and meandered into the family room. He looked toward Mia’s bedroom and didn't see her. Quietly, Dukee hurried over to the cardboard barn. I'll wait here until she comes out again and then I'll scare her, Dukee thought.
While Dukee waited, he heard Auntie R. say something to Mia but couldn't make it out. Dukee peeked around the corner of the cardboard barn and saw Auntie R. open her bedroom door. She went into the bathroom but Mia was still doing something in the bedroom. Dukee heard a clunk but continued to wait.
It was less then a minute when Mia ran out of her bedroom. But Mia is so quick that she passed Dukee before he even realized it. Dukee chased her but she slid and spun around at the front of the house. Dukee quickly jumped up onto the leather sofa.
Mia walked around the end of the sofa and looked up at Dukee, “what are you doing?”
“Chasing you,” Dukee said.
Mia walked over to the kitty tower and jumped up into the tunnel part of it. Dukee watched Mia and then walked across the sofa. He jumped onto the blanket that laid on top of Mia’s litter box cabinet and sat down.
Dukee looked at Mia and said, “don't you like to be chased?”
Mia looked at Dukee and replied, “I don't know. I think that I prefer to do the chasing.”
“Well that's okay by me. Just don't hit me back there,” Dukee glanced back at his tail.
“Am I too rough?” Mia asked.
“No, but it's startling and I just don't like it,” Dukee said.
“Okay, I'll try and remember that,” Mia said and then looked out the window.
Dukee looked out the window too and watched as a small yellow butterfly flew over the Penta flowers in the garden.
“Those little critters sure are pretty aren't they?” Dukee said.
“Yes, but I think the bigger ones with the black are even prettier,” Mia said.
All of a sudden a “Tiger Swallowtail” butterfly flew up to the window. It fluttered there for almost ten seconds as if it were looking at Dukee and Mia. Then the butterfly landed on one of the Penta flowers.
“Did you see that?” Mia said to Dukee.
“Yes… That's the type that you were just talking about, right?” Dukee said.
“yes it is. But how strange that was that it fluttered by the window right after I said that,” Mia said and stretched her arm out.
“Yes, that was a bit coincidental wasn't it? Maybe the universe is listening to us,” Dukee said and looked up and around.
“Stop that,” Mia said and then giggled.
Dukee looked at Mia and snickered. The two of them decided to enjoy the rest of their morning and not think anymore about it.
Coincidences and strange occurrences can be questionable at times, but if too much thought is put into some thing's it might be alarming. Don't dwell on it, just enjoy your day.
Until next week, Mia and Dukee want to wish you a great rest of your week and weekend.
