Dukee was laying in the family room when Mia walked near him and laid down.
“So do you feel better now that your momma is back home?” Dukee asked.
“Yes, I do. It worried me when she didn’t come home the first night. I don’t even know why she left,” Mia said.
“Well, my mom said that she spent the weekend with her hooman daughters,” Dukee said and then licked his paw.
“Hooman daughters?” Mia said.
“Yes, you know at least one of them because she was here a few times,” Dukee said.
Mia thought for a few minutes, “oh, I think I remember her now. Well, I’m just happy that mommas home again. I like Auntie but I love and missed my mom.”
“Well that’s understandable. But I bet you just missed your moms massages that I heard about,” Dukee said.
“My massages? No, it’s more than that. My mom has a special way of loving me,” Mia said and then licked her fur on her side.
“Yeah, it’s probably the massages. I heard the way you stretch out and accept all the attention she gives you, Dukee said.
“Well, I’m sure that you like your massages too,” Mia looked at Dukee.
“I get some neck massages from my mom but I like it when she brushes me more,” Dukee said as he got up.
“Okay, see you do enjoy the attention too,” Mia said as she watched Dukee walk away.
Dukee walked around the sofa and over to the sliding glass door. Mia quickly got up, trotted over to the chaise lounge chair and snuck underneath it.
Mia peeked at Dukee from under the chair and jumped out towards him, “boo!”
Dukee looked back at Mia, “you didn’t scare me, I expected it.”
Mia giggled and then walked towards her bedroom.
“Meow,” Dukee said.
After a minute passed Dukee thought, come on Mom, I want to go outside.
Mia went in her bedroom and jumped up onto the bed. She nibbled a few kernels out of the bowl that's there and then hopped back down.
“I think I'll go up front and see if mom will give me a massage,” Mia giggled.
I knew it, Dukee thought.
“You better be thankful for her,” Dukee said while waiting to go outside.
“I am” Mia said and then trotted to the front living room.
Dukee meowed again and then started to scratch on the chair near the door. Auntie then made her way to the sliding door and opened it for him. Wow, it's hot out here, Dukee thought.
