Dukee jumped on the brown paper and then swiped at his toy mouse. Mia was curious as to what Dukee was doing so she crept out of her bedroom and sat by the chaise lounge chair. Dukee then batted the mouse down the hallway and ran after it. Mia quickly ran around the cardboard barn and headed toward the kitchen. She then heard Dukee meow at his toy and then batted it again. As he turned toward the family room, Mia peeked around the kitchen doorway.
Mia then pounced at Dukee’s tail and lightly tapped it. She then turned and ran into the front living room. Once Dukee realized what Mia did, she was hiding in her paper cave. Dukee slowly walked into the front living room and glanced around. Mia held completely still until she saw his feet. Then she darted out of the paper. Dukee jumped, quickly turned, and hurried out of her way. Mia giggled and then jumped up onto the kitty tower.
“Where’re you going you big chicken?” Mia said.
Dukee stopped and looked back to where Mia had been. She wasn’t after him so he stopped and walked over to the side table. After he jumped up onto it he saw Mia in the tunnel part.
“Why did you have to scare me like that, I wasn’t ready for it,” Dukee said while he walked to the end of the table.
“Well that’s the whole idea, you’re not supposed to be ready for it,” Mia said and then giggled again.
Dukee hopped down onto Mia’s litter box cabinet and looked out the window.
“What’s the matter? Are you in a bad mood?” Mia asked.
“I don’t know, maybe,” Dukee said.
“How come?” Mia said and looked out the window.
“Well, my mom had to go to work and I really wanted her to stay home,” Dukee said.
“Wasn’t she home for a few days?” Mia asked.
“Yes, and she tried to give me attention but I didn’t always want it,” Dukee said.
“Well, I guess you should have paid more attention to her then,” Mia said.
“Yes, I know. Now I have to wait until she gets home, whenever that is,” Dukee said and then licked his front paw.
Have you ever missed the chance to let someone know how much they meant to you? If you have then now is your chance to tell them or others how important they are to you. Dukee and Mia have their own special ways of letting their mom’s know they care. It’s very different from Human love but sincere just the same.
