The Day With Dukee And Mia

Yay, catnip

Mia heard the sound of the catnip bag so she sat in the hallway and waited for Auntie to come out of her bedroom. When Auntie walked out, Mia softly meowed but was excited to see the bag in her hand. Mia and Auntie walked to the front of the house and stopped by the cardboard cottage. Auntie sprinkled some catnip on the floor and Mia was right there to eat it. Dukee patiently waited for his share of the catnip as Auntie then walked into the family room. After she sprinkled some into the cardboard barn Dukee went inside and rolled in it.

“Nom nom nom,” Mia said while she ate the dried goodness.

It didn’t take long though before Mia’s small pile of catnip was gone and so was she. Mia had a sudden burst of energy and ran down the hallway to her bedroom. She then turned around and ran back out and into the front living room. That was some good stuff, she thought. Mia sniffed at the few pieces that she left on the floor and then laid down. She then rolled onto her side and stretched out all four legs. I feel wonderful, Mia thought.

Dukee just walked out of the cardboard barn after scratching on the cardboard pads inside. He looked down the hall and saw Mia laying in the main walkway. Casually Dukee walked down the hallway towards Mia when she quickly jumped up. He stopped and watched her as she walked over to her Mom and rubbed up against her leg. Dukee felt the coast was clear so he walked over to the post by the cottage and scratched on it. Mia watched him as he then melted down onto the floor at the base of the scratch post. He switched his position but still laid there and looked at Mia while she looked at him.

Soon, Dukee started to close his eyes because of sleepiness. Mia quietly crept inch by inch towards Dukee’s tail. When she sniffed the tip of his tail, he opened his eyes and pulled his tail closer to him. Mia then laid down and just stared at Dukee for a minute. Mom told Mia to be nice so Mia then got up and walked back over to her. At times Mia tends to get a little sassy when Dukee is in her space. Just like any relationship, respect of space and territory needs to be followed. Sometimes Dukee thinks he owns the whole place, which he doesn’t. For the most part though, Mia and Dukee tolerate each other and have fun.
