Mia was enjoying her morning by the front window. She heard the different birds outside chirping and watched a lizard get its breakfast. Mia also loves the warmth of the sunshine that comes in at that time of the morning.
“Oh, what’s that?” Mia said as she watched something crawl along in the flower bed.
Mia put her face close to the window and tried to make out what it might be.
“Oh, it looks like one of those bugs that I caught for Mom,” Mia said.
After watching the bug for about a minute, Mia heard something in the other room. She got up and hopped down to the floor. Maybe it’s Mom, Mia thought as she walked down the hall. As Mia entered the family room, she noticed Dukee laying on the back of the chaise lounge chair.
Mia stopped near the chair, looked up at Dukee and asked, “did Auntie go to work?”
Dukee lifted his head and said, “yep, so I thought that I’d just take a nap right here.”
“Oh, okay. You’re not going chase me right now are you?” Mia asked.
“No, I’m too tired,” Dukee put his head back down.
Mia looked at Dukee for a few seconds longer and then went into her bedroom. Her Mom was watching something on the television so she jumped up onto the bed by her. Mia rubbed her head on her Mom’s arm in a way to ask for some pets.
Dukee lifted his head and did a big yawn before laying his head back down. I wonder how long mom will be away today, he thought. Once again Dukee closed his eyes and then drifted off to sleep. But Dukee’s sleep didn’t last long because he was startled awake by Mia suddenly running out of her bedroom. Dukee lifted his head and watched as Mia ran toward the front of the house. That girl is silly, he thought.
It was only a minute or two when Mia ran back into the family room and into her bedroom. Dukee just watched as the shadowy fur-ball ran past his chair. She sure is quick, he thought. Dukee closed his eyes again and noticed that it was quiet. But how long will it be quiet with two cats in the house. Have a great Sunday everyone.
