The Day With Dukee And Mia
“Well, it’s here again,” Dukee said as he stopped and looked at Mia.
Mia glanced around, “what, what’s here again?”
“The colder weather,” Dukee said with a sad tone.
Mia adjusted her body on the tote that she was laying on, “it’s going to warm up again soon,” Mia said.
“I know but I’m itching to be lounging out on the back porch now,” Dukee said.
“Well, right now might not be that good anyways,” Mia said.
“Why?” Dukee said and cocked his head.
“Well, my mom has been sneezing a lot more and I’ve heard Auntie sneezing more, so there must be that stuff outside,” Mia said.
“Oh yeah, I think I’ve seen it on the porch,” Dukee said and then walked down the hallway.
“Where are you going?” Mia asked.
“Come on I’ll show you,” Dukee said as he glanced back at Mia.
Mia hopped down off the tote and followed Dukee to that sliding glass door in the family room. He sat down and looked out onto the porch. Mia walked up next to him and sat down.
“Okay, what am I looking for?” Mia asked.
“See that yellow looking stuff along the floor near the screen?” Dukee said.
“Yes I do. You think that is what’s making Mom and Auntie sneeze more?” Mia asked and then itched her neck.
“It might be,” Dukee said.
Mia looked along the floor of the porch and saw quite a bit of that powdery substance. She itched her neck again and then licked the fur on her right side.
“What’s the matter?” Dukee asked.
“I feel itchy,” Mia said, “I bet it’s that stuff.”
“I was out there earlier and it didn’t make me feel itchy,” Dukee said.
“Oh, well, I don’t know then,” Mia said, “I’m going to see what my mom is doing.”
Dukee snickered as Mia got up and walked around the wingback chair. Just before she walked in front of the chaise lounge chair, her mom walked out of her bedroom. Mom saw Mia and asked her if she was looking outside with Dukee. Mia thought to herself, how did she figure that out so quickly? Mia shrugged it off and followed her mom to the front living room. Dukee stayed sitting by the glass door and just looked around outside. He watched as one little bird landed on the fence and then flew off.
“It’ll warm up again soon and then I’ll go back outside,” Dukee said.
What’s the temperature right now where you live?
