“It’s that time of year again,” Mia said as she knocked the little tree shaped toy off the kitty tower.
Dukee looked at Mia and said, “Yeah it's Christmas time.”
“Yes I know that. Our mom's like to go overboard with decorating, don't you think?”
“No, I don't think so. I've always liked seeing how my mom decorates,” Dukee said and then looked back out the window.
“But what is the reasoning as to why they decorate like this every year?” Mia asked.
“It’s a celebration I guess,” Dukee said.
“Of what though?” Mia asked while she walked over to her food dish.
“Um, I'm not sure. But If my mom says anything about it, I'll listen,” Dukee said.
“Okay. I like that twinkly tree over there. I saw mom put it up one other time too,” Mia said in between the nibbling of her food.
“Yes, that is pretty nice. I like the one in the other room too. I like laying on that soft stuff they have underneath it,” Dukee said and then walked to the other end of the table.
Mia licked around her mouth and then jumped down onto the floor. She walked out of the living room and plopped down.
Dukee jumped down off the table and glanced at Mia as she laid on the floor watching him.
“Where are you going?” Mia asked Dukee.
“I'm going to lay down in the other room,” Dukee said and then walked toward the kitchen.
“Oh, okay. There's more room here for me then,” Mia said and then stretched her body out.
Dukee knew that he could relax a little more in the family room. He couldn't always tell when Mia’s mood would switch and then be a grump. When Dukee entered the family room, he laid down and then stared down the hallway at Mia.
“See, we can still talk,” Dukee said.
Mia moved her head just a little and said to Dukee, “I don't want to now.”
Dukee snickered, “okay then.”
Dukee stayed laying there but looked past Mia and out the narrow window. He was hoping that the squirrels would show up again. Dukee learned the other day that the squirrels like to play hide and seek with the Christmas banner that his Auntie R wrapped around the tree. It is really cute to see them do that.
But for now, Mia and Dukee hope that you enjoy the weekend coming up.
I can really hear Mia's attitude with your writing. Ha ha ha !
