The Day With Dukee And Mia

Some days Mia and Dukee decide to just play by themselves. Dukee plays with fun cat toys, where as Mia plays with a lot of things just found around the house. She will toss around anything that has a ring shape to it and also twisted handles from paper bags. She also has a plastic spider she loves to toss when it’s not lost. Dukee enjoys his small catnip infused stuffed animals like his lobster, cardinal, peacock and more. He’ll also chew on and play with his silver vine sticks and hit his furry mice.

Mia will also play with the marbles that are lined in the base of her one scratch posts. But of course we can’t forget her favorite toy, Lamb-chop. Mia will toss Lamb-chop up into the air and jump and twist after it. But, if Lamb-chop is taking a nap somewhere, Mia will find other things to play with. She will even play in a box. Mia loves boxes and tote bags. And it doesn’t matter what might be in it because she will go into it anyways.

Another thing that Dukee and Mia both do is talk (meow) with their stuffed toy in their mouth. As a human, we don’t really know what they are saying, but it can be fun to guess. Could they be talking to their toy while in their mouths, or are they calling out to us to give us their present? They could be just letting everyone know that they are proud of themselves for catching the lifeless stuffed animal. Whatever it is, us humans have fun with the idea of it. In the wild you would think that cats would be quiet when they catch something, otherwise someone might steal it from them.

Playtime though is very important for your cat or pet. They need to be active to some degree physically and mentally. It keeps them trim and busy so that they don’t get too bored. It’s also good for us humans to play with them. It creates a special bond between human and cat or human and pet. And when we play with them it stimulates our own happy thoughts which is good for us as well. So, if you have a pet, are you going to play with it more? It’s good for the both of you if you do.
