The Day With Dukee And Mia
What was that sound
Mia was in the front living room laying on her scratch board when Dukee walked into the room. She watched him as he sniffed the rug which was about three feet away from her. When he walked a little closer, Mia moved her paw. That sound across the scratch board startled Dukee enough to make him jump straight up. Mia started to laugh and laugh. Dukee glared at her as he walked past her and jumped up onto her litter box cabinet. Dukee looked out the window while Mia was still laughing.
“It wasn’t that funny,” Dukee said.
“Yes it was,” Mia said while she tried to stop.
Mia then envisioned Dukee’s jump again and laughed even harder. She started to laugh so hard that she rolled off of the scratch board. The end of the board raised up and quickly hit the floor. That made Dukee turn around fast and look at Mia.
“What are you doing?” Dukee said.
Mia’s laughing stopped briefly because of the sound the board made, but when she saw that everything was okay, she laughed again. This time her laugh dwindled down to a giggle. Dukee just shook his head and turned back around.
He then laid down on the blanket and watched the squirrel that scampered into the yard. Mia tried to settle herself down and then jump up onto the kitty tower. Mia’s mom then walked into the living room and asked what they were doing. She heard the sound that the board made from the other room and got her concerned.
Mia looked at her mom while she looked around the room. Her mom didn’t find anything out of the ordinary so she walked back into the other room. Mia then giggled and looked at Dukee.
“You’re lucky that you didn’t get into trouble,” Dukee said as he looked at Mia.
“I wouldn’t be the only one in trouble since we both are in here,” Mia said.
“That’s true, but I didn’t even do anything,” Dukee said.
“Shh, she’s coming back,” Mia said.
Mia sniffed and then looked back at her mom. She watched her mom as she sat down in her chair, and then looked out the window. With some of the sounds that we hear in the house at times, we don’t always know who or what is the cause of the sounds. But this time, Dukee and Mia both knew what made that loud sound. Maybe one of them will accidently provide that sound again when a human is in the room.
