Mia was laying on the one half of the reclining sofa when Dukee jumped up and onto the other half. He was surprised to see Mia laying there. Dukee will a lot of times use that way as a shortcut to get to the window, but not this time.
Mia lifted her head and glared at Dukee. It was as if her lounging time was interrupted by him. Mia’s mom quickly told her to be nice and that it was okay for Dukee to be there. Mia glanced at her mom and then laid her head back down. She continued to look at Dukee but relaxed her stare a little bit. Dukee then decided to lay down and look out the window from there.
When auntie R got up and went into the other room, Mia lifted her head and growled at Dukee.
Dukee looked at Mia and asked, “what's wrong with you? Why are you growling at me?”
“Well for one, you startled me when you jumped up there. And for two, you interrupted my peaceful nap,” Mia said.
“Well I am sorry princess. I did not know that you were there. Why are you laying there anyways?” Dukee asked.
Mia cocked her head and asked, “why did you call me princess?”
Dukee snickered briefly, “because they are usually treated special and served in some way.”
Mia thought for a moment and then said, “okay then, serve me.”
Dukee shook his head and said, “no.”
Mia giggled, “well it was worth a shot.”
“Why are you laying there anyways?” Dukee asked again.
“Because I feel chilly this morning and the sun is shining real nice here.” Mia explained.
“Oh, I can understand that. I noticed during the night that it must have gotten colder because my mom grabbed the blanket and covered herself up more. So then I got up and cuddled next to her,” Dukee said.
“Yes, I noticed that my mom also covered up more. The temperature can't seem to make up its mind yet,” Mia said.
“No I guess not. Oh, squirrel,” Dukee said and then hopped down onto the floor and then up onto the blanket that lays on top of Mia’s litter box cabinet.
Mia just rolled onto her other side and looked out the window. She saw another squirrel as it entered the yard.
Auntie R walked back into the room and saw that Dukee was now near the window. Well, it looks like Mia and Dukee have been getting along which is good, she thought.
Until next week, Mia and Dukee hope that everyone out there stays warm and safe.
