The Day With Dukee And Mia

Why are those humans here again?

Mia looked out the narrow window by the front door and thought, why are those humans here again? The landlords of the house that Mia and Dukee live in have been painting the outside of the house and both screen porches. It has disrupted Mia and Dukee’s normal routine’s and they aren’t too happy.

When the landlords went around to the back of the house, Mia walked over to the bench by the other window and jumped up onto it. She sat down on the window sill and looked out into the flower bed. Dukee saw the landlords in the back screened porch so he walked into the kitchen. He heard Mia talking to something so he walked over to the bench by her.

“Who are you talking to?” Dukee asked.

“Oh, just a lizard down in by the flowers,” Mia looked at Dukee.

Dukee jumped up onto the other end of the bench and laid down, “those people are here again.”

“Yes I know,” Mia said.

“When Auntie let me out onto the back porch yesterday, the floor was sticky and it smelled funny,” Dukee said.

“Yeah, Mom said that they have been painting everything.” Mia looked at Dukee.

“Well, I hope that they’re done soon,” Dukee said and licked the pad of his front right foot.

“I know, it’s taking them forever to get it all done,” Mia said.

Just then, the lady walked into the front yard and over to her truck. She got something out of the truck and then walked back across the driveway and to the back yard.

“Do you think they are done yet?” Dukee asked.

“I doubt it. They just got here silly,” Mia said.

“Well, I didn’t know. I was napping in my room,” Dukee said and then stuck his tongue out at Mia.

Out of the corner of her eye, Mia saw what Dukee did, “you’ll pay for that later,” she said.

Dukee snickered at Mia and then watched a garbage truck as it slowed down to turn the corner. It was going to be a day of uncertainty with the landlords still hanging around. So Dukee and Mia will just have to adjust until next week. We still aren’t sure what else they plan on painting.
