There are some days when it can be pretty quiet in the house. But then there are some days when Dukee is heard by everyone.
Dukee loves his toys and I would say that lately, a couple of times a day he would walk around with a toy in his mouth and meow loudly. Mia would hear him and watch to see if he was going to come to where she would be. Sometimes yes, but most of the time, no. I think most of the time, Mia also wished that Dukee would just shut up so that she could go back to sleep.
This particular day Dukee was very noisy with everything he did. He played in the family room with his toys which was good. But, when he started to play on his sheet of wrapping paper, he was noisy with it.
Mia came out from her bedroom which was not far from the family room and glared at Dukee. Dukee stopped long enough to look up at Mia as she walked by. I wonder what her problem is, he thought.
Dukee continued to play with his toys on the paper while Mia went into the front living room by her mom. Her mom acknowledged her and gave her a little pet. Mia then walked over to the coffee table and jumped up onto it. She decided to eat a little snack before she laid back down for a nap.
When she was done, she hopped down and ducked down and under part of the kitty tower. Mia lately likes to lay under there because it is a quiet hiding place for her. It is also near the window and good for bird watching.
Mia laid down and got comfortable. She also noticed that Dukee got quiet. Oh good, maybe now I can take another nap, Mia thought. Mia started to drift off to sleep while Dukee even laid his head down where he was playing. It was nice and quiet again at least for a few minutes.
Dukee got up from where he laid in the family room and quietly made his way to the front living room. When he entered, he stopped and looked for Mia but did not see her. Mia just happened to be facing in the direction of Dukee and opened her eyes.
She watched him as he jumped up onto her litter box cabinet. She figured that he was going to lay down on the blanket there and watch for squirrels which he did. Dukee didn’t see any squirrels or even birds at that moment so he laid his head down. Mia then drifted off to sleep once again.
About five minutes went by and something made Dukee open his eyes. When he saw a squirrel as it started to crawl toward the flower bed, he quietly got into position.
As the squirrel entered the flower bed, Dukee’s tail swished back and forth. Sometimes his tail would swish and thump the wood cabinet rather loudly.
All of a sudden Mia woke up to that thumping noise. She turned her body and head and peeked up though the space where she can see the bird feeder. Oh, it's Dukee’s tail again, Mia thought. Mia figured that out because she saw the squirrel on the bird feeder. So, Mia laid her head back down with the hope of napping just a little while longer. And Dukee just observed the squirrel.
Until next week, Dukee and Mia hope that you get a good nap in and watch some wildlife.
Dukee and Mia have the right idea to watch birds and squirrels. It's very calming.
