While Mia ran from her bedroom to the front living room, Dukee was outside enjoying the weather. He was enjoying his day so much that he even put on his silly glasses. What a good day it is today, he thought. Sometimes the weather here in Florida is just perfect all around. Not too hot, not too cool, and not too humid. Just like Goldilocks would say, “This one is just right”.
Mia’s mom was sitting in her chair so Mia walked up to her and rubbed her head and neck on her leg. I love you Mom, Mia thought. Mom gave Mia a few neck scratches and then Mom pulled her hand away. She knows the signs when Mia has had enough touching. Mia then walked over to her plastic purple ball and tossed it in the air with her front paw. She jumped and hopped and pounced at the ball. Mia then scooped the ball up with her paw again and flung it into the air. The ball actually landed on the seat of the reclining sofa chair.
Mia jumped up onto the seat where Auntie usually sits and found her ball. She sat up like a squirrel and batted the ball between her two paws. Then, Mia hit the ball back down to the floor. She stared at the ball for a few seconds until something outside caught her attention. She hopped down and then quickly jumped up onto her litter box cabinet. Mia saw a small lizard peeking at her from outside the window.
I see you looking at me, you silly lizard, Mia thought. Mia sat and watched the lizard for about five minutes until she heard Auntie let Dukee inside from the back porch. She looked in that direction to see if Dukee was going to come up front, but he didn’t. Mia turned and looked back out the window but the lizard had disappeared. Where did you go, Mia thought as she moved closer to the window to see. Before Mia decided to give up on the lizard, it crept back out from around the corner.
There you are, Mia thought. The lizard must have seen something because it scurried onto the window glass. Mia watched it as it sat for a few seconds and then turned around and went back to were it was resting before. If that lizard got something to eat, I didn’t see it, Mia thought. Mia laid down on the blanket and just waited for the lizard to make it’s next move.
Dukee was in his bedroom with Auntie enjoying her company now. He curled up in between Auntie’s legs and enjoyed some neck massaging. Then he decided to take a nap and put his head down. After all Auntie did have some work to do on the computer. That is one of Dukee’s favorite places to nap, right by his mom.
Do you or your furbaby have a favorite place to nap?
