It was around eight-thirty in the morning and Mia was near the front living room window.
“You know lizard, you are lucky that you are on the other side of this window. Because I know that if you were in here with me, I would be able to catch you. One of your friends was in here the other day and I was this close to catching him,” Mia said as she crept all the way up to the window.
The lizard blinked it’s eyes and cocked it’s head. It was almost like the lizard could hear and understand Mia.
“And another thing, if Dukee can catch a lizard as quick as you, I know that I can too because I’m faster than him,” Mia said and then glanced behind her.
Dukee heard Mia as he walked along behind of the leather sofa. He stood at the narrow window by the door and waited to see if Mia would say anything more to the lizard.
“I don’t think that Dukee eats your friends but I think that he likes to play with them. So, that’s probably what I would do with you too. I like having a live toy to play with so why don’t you sneak in here like your green friend did,” Mia said and flicked her tail up and down.
Dukee snickered and then jumped up onto the side table.
“Hey, how long have you been sitting down there?” Mia looked and said to Dukee.
“Long enough to hear you say that you think that you are faster then me,” Dukee snickered again at Mia.
“Well, I think that I’m fast. I can catch up to you fairly quick,” Mia said and then looked back outside at the lizard.
“That’s true, you have caught up to me but it takes skill to catch a lizard,” Dukee said and then looked out the window.
“If I only had another chance I bet I could catch one,” Mia said.
The lizard turned it’s head when it saw a small bug flying around. Mia watched the lizard and then jumped when the lizard quickly scurried after the bug.
Dukee snickered again, “what did you jump for?”
“I don’t know. I guess I wasn’t expecting the lizard to move so fast while I was focused on it,” Mia giggled.
The lizard left the window ledge and disappeared down the wall. Mia backed up onto the blanket and laid down. Dukee just sat on the table and looked up into the sky. A big black crow flying around caught his attention. Do you ever just look up at the sky and see what’s up there? Sometimes I see a jet or two flying way up there. I know that Mia and Dukee see a lot of birds flying around in the sky but not sure about the jets. I think that it’s important for us to stop and look around sometimes. There is so much to see and observe in our big world.
