Mia was playing with a small orange ring from a bottle and jumping around in the hall with it. Dukee heard her so he peeked around the corner and watched Mia as she jumped up and pushed off the wall with her back legs.
“Wow, that was a pretty cool move,” Dukee said as he stepped out.
Mia stopped and looked at Dukee, “what do you mean?”
Dukee walked into the hallway and said, “the way you jumped up, kicked off the wall and twisted your body before landing.”
“Oh, I do that a lot. Is this the first time seeing me do that?” Mia asked him.
“Yes it is. I’ve seen you jump over things and up high, but never seen you do that,” Dukee said and looked at the wall.
Mia giggled, “It just comes naturally to me.”
“Well, it’s pretty cool,” Dukee said and then walked past her.
Dukee walked into the front living room and looked around. He then noticed Mia’s pink kick stick laying on the brown paper. Dukee walked over to it and laid down and grabbed it with his claws. Mia heard the crinkle of the paper and was curious as to what Dukee was up to. She crept over to the leather sofa and saw Dukee playing with her toy. Mia snuck around the back side of the sofa and quietly stepped up onto the bottom shelf of the side table. She peeked around the one end of the sofa and watched Dukee as he held the toy tight to his belly and kicked with his back legs.
Mia jumped out from the side table and scared Dukee, “hey, that’s my toy.”
Dukee quickly jumped up to his feet and looked at Mia.
“What are you doing playing with my toy?” Mia asked.
“Well, do you play with it?” Dukee asked.
“Yes, sometimes,” Mia said and laid down.
“Oh, okay. Is there anything in that basket that you don’t play with?” Dukee asked and walked closer to her.
“No, I play with them all on separate occasions,” Mia said.
“Oh, okay,” Dukee said with a disappointed tone.
“I know that you have a lot of toys too because Auntie and Mom both buy us toys,” Mia said.
“Yes I know but I get bored with them easily,” Dukee said.
“Well if you want, you can have that soldier thing,” Mia said.
“I have one of those,” said Dukee.
“Okay, then that crinkly cup latte one,” Mia said.
“I have one of those too,” Dukee said.
“Well, go play with them then because right now you aren’t getting any of mine,” Mia said and then jumped up onto the kitty tower.
Dukee watched Mia as she climbed up into the tunnel part of the kitty tower. He stuck his tongue out at her and then decided to go into his bedroom to find a different toy to play with. Sometimes with cats, they just don’t know what to do to stay entertained. Mia is good at playing by herself most of the time, but Dukee gets bored easily. He sort of takes after Auntie that way. What do your furry friends do for entertainment? Do they play well alone or need constant interaction from you?
