It was a cool morning in Florida for Mia and Dukee. Mia had her breakfast real early as usual, where Dukee got his around eight this time. When Dukee was done, Auntie walked out into the family room and over to the sliding glass door to see if Dukee wanted to go outside. When she opened the door Dukee sniffed the air and then walked out onto the screened porch. Auntie checked on Dukee five minutes later and he was ready to come back in. It’s a little chilly out there, Dukee thought.
Dukee and Auntie went back into their bedroom while the rest of the house was still quiet. Mia was laying on the rug beside her mom’s bed and yawned. She looked up at her Mom and saw that she was still sleeping. I guess I’ll let Mom sleep a while longer since I woke her up so early, Mia thought. Mia yawned again and then laid her head back down on her front paw and closed her eyes.
In Dukee’s bedroom, he got a drink of water before he jumped up onto the leather stool by the window. When he looked out the window, he saw a squirrel creeping along the fence. Dukee made a squeak sound at the squirrel before it climbed through the fence and disappeared into the neighbors side yard. Once the squirrel was gone, Dukee noticed how nice and warm the sun shining in the window felt. He laid down and yawned as he enjoyed the warmth. And it wasn’t long before Dukee put his head down and closed his eyes.
It looks as if the day was going to be a lazy day for Dukee and Mia. So they both want you to know that a day to do nothing is needed sometimes and to take advantage of it.
