The Day With Dukee And Mia

It's too early to be talking so loudly

It was about 6:20 in the morning and Dukee was sitting on the bench in the dining area looking out the window. Mia was cleaning her face after having her breakfast when she heard Dukee meow. He meowed again even louder with a few quieter ones to follow.

“Come over here cat,” Dukee said.

Dukee meowed again so Mia quietly left her bedroom and made her way to the front of the house. She figured that Dukee was on the bench because that’s where he was many times. As Dukee watched the cat that he was talking to disappear behind the neighbors house, Mia walked up behind him.

“Will you be quiet, Mom is trying to go back to sleep,” Mia said.

Dukee quickly turned around, “oh, I’m sorry. I just get excited when I see another cat,” he said.

“Why? It’s not like you are going to go outside by them,” Mia said and walked away.

Dukee hopped down from the bench and said, “no, probably not but at least I’m being friendly.”

Mia stopped on the other side of the island and looked at Dukee, “are you saying that I’m not friendly?”

Dukee stopped and looked at her, “yes.”

“I can be friendly if I want to. I’m friendly to you sometimes aren’t I?” Mia said.

Dukee didn’t want to have anymore of this discussion. He had the feeling that Mia was a little cranky so he apologized again and walked toward the kitchen.

“Hey, I thought we were talking,” Mia said.

“Um, not right now, I’m going to go back to my room now,” Dukee said.

Dukee continued through the kitchen and into the family room. Mia walked toward the hallway and saw Dukee go to his room. I know that I’m friendly most of the time. I just don’t always like the way some things are done is all, Mia thought.

As Mia walked past the small hall that led to Dukee’s room, she noticed that Auntie had her light on already. See, he probably woke up Auntie as well with his meowing, she thought. As Mia continued to her bedroom, Dukee hopped up by his mom. She had already started working on her computer.

“Do you want to cuddle now?” Auntie asked him.

Dukee was of course ready to curl up with his mom. After all, she didn’t have to go to work today.

Dukee accepted some neck rubbing from Auntie before she went back to her computer. Dukee then laid his head down on Auntie’s leg and closed his eyes. That Mia needs to relax more, Dukee thought.

Mia decided to climb up on her and her mom’s bed and curl up on the end of it. She knew that her mom wanted to get a little more sleep this morning. This is the least I can do after waking her up for my breakfast, Mia thought as she laid her head down on her paw. Sleep a little longer Mom and then I’ll wake you up for my massage.
