The Day With Dukee And Mia
Dukee and Mia made it through the hurricane with no problems. Mia’s mom and Dukee’s mom stayed up all night to make sure that nothing bad would happen.
“It sure got spooky that night, didn't it?” Mia said to Dukee while she itched her ear.
“Yes it was, but I was sure that our mom's had everything under control,” Dukee said.
“What made you so sure?” Mia asked.
Dukee looked back at Mia, “well, because I sensed that my mom knew that everything would be okay. I know that she was nervous at first but then I felt her calmness later.”
“Oh, okay... It was strange though that we didn't have the normal lights on and also no television,” Mia said.
“Well, I guess with a storm like that, the electric does goes off,” Dukee explained.
“Oh, you mean what makes everything work?” Mia asked.
“Yep, like the lights,” Dukee said and then turned back around when he heard a squirrel.
Dukee meowed at the squirrel and then watched as it climbed onto the bird feeder. Mia then hopped down off the bean bag and ran over to the kitty tower. She ducked down in between the cube and the post and watched.
Squirrel watching at our house has become a popular activity lately. Especially when they climb up and onto the bird feeder.
“Isn't she cute when she sits up like that?” Mia said.
“Yeah, but how do you know it's a girl?” Dukee asked.
“Oh, I don't know for sure, but she just looks like a she,” Mia said and then giggled.
“She does look smaller than one of the others,” Dukee said.
“Yes, that too,” Mia giggled again.
I believe our squirrel couple who live in one of the tall pine trees had a good size litter this year. We have at least four young ones running around the yard. They are kind of cute as long as they behave themselves.
Anyway, Auntie is working today but Dukee and Mia want to wish you all a good day.
