Mia walked up to Dukee as he rolled around on the rug and asked, “did Auntie say that someone was coming here today?”
Dukee stopped and looked at Mia, “oh, yes she did. It's Barry, the guy that was here a while ago.”
“Why is he coming back so soon?” Mia asked.
“My mom said something about fixing her van, why do you you ask?” Dukee said and sat up.
“Oh… Is he staying the night again?” Mia asked.
“Probably. Remember, he lives back in the area where I used to live,” Dukee said.
“Is where you lived before far away?” Mia asked.
“Yes, I think so. We were in the car for quite awhile before we got here,” Dukee explained.
Mia scratched behind her ear and then said, “oh.”
“He's not going to hurt you Mia. From what I heard he played with you when you were a kitten and before you even moved here,” Dukee said.
Mia cocked her head, “he did?”
“Yes, I guess so,” Dukee said and then jumped up onto Mia’s litter box cabinet.
Mia got up and walked over to the kitty tower, “I don't remember that.”
“Well, you were young back then,” Dukee looked back at Mia.
“That's true. He does always say hi to me when he's here,” Mia said as she jumped up and then laid down next to the cube.
“Hey, there's a lizard creeping toward the window,” Dukee said but held completely still.
Mia quickly got up but slowly moved to see.
“I see you lizard,” Mia said.
Dukee laid still and watched the lizard as it peeked in the window. Mia also stood still for a minute or two.
“Do you think that it can see us?” Dukee said.
“Well… Um…,” Mia said as she slightly moved and then charged at the window.
The lizard jumped down just before Mia hit the window.
“Well, it sees you now for sure,” Dukee snickered.
Mia stood on the window sill and looked down at the ground, “I think I scared it.”
Dukee snickered again but readjusted himself. Because of how quickly Mia moved, it startled Dukee as well. He didn'texpect Mia to charge the window like that.
“What’s wrong did I scare you too?” Mia giggled.
“Yes, you did. I thought we were just going to watch the lizard. After all, we can’t get it when it's outside,” Dukee said.
Mia stepped off the window sill and carefully made her way back to the cube, “well, I just wanted it to know that I'm here.”
Dukee watched Mia as she laid down next to the cube and got comfortable.
“Well, because of the loud bang that you made doing it, I'm sure everyone here knows now,” Dukee said and then looked back out the window.
Mia looked at Dukee and giggled. She thought it was funny that she scared him this time more than the lizard. The two of them laid there for awhile and gazed out the window. With every new day comes the possibility of seeing new critters. After all the hunt comes naturally to cats.
Until next week, Mia and Dukee hope that you all are well and that you have a good one.
Mia is like people when it comes to learning something new almost every day.
