Dukee decided to lay down in the cardboard cottage and take a nap. Mia walked into the dining area from the kitchen and was startled by a sound. She stopped and looked toward the cottage. Mia cocked her head and looked at Dukee.
“Hey, are you sleeping?” Mia asked.
Dukee cracked open his eyes and saw Mia standing there, “well I was trying to, what's up?”
“Oh, well you startled me when I walked in here so I thought you were awake,” Mia said and laid down.
“I was somewhat awake and I moved my leg a little. So that's probably what you heard,” Dukee said and then moved his body again.
“You look almost too big for that thing,” Mia said.
“Well, it is a little smaller than I like so that's why I don't lay in here for very long. I think that's why my mom made the barn for me and let you have this,” Dukee said.
“Oh, I thought it was mine to begin with,” Mia said.
“No, I think it was mine until my mom realized how small it was,” Dukee said and then licked his right paw.
“Oh… But it's mine now, right?” Mia asked.
Dukee snickered, “yes, probably.”
“Well, Auntie does give me catnip in there,” Mia said.
Dukee snickered again, “yes she does, so it's probably yours now.”
Mia quickly stood up, “Ok then, get out of my thing."
Dukee looked at Mia, “no. I'll leave when I'm ready to.”
Mia stretched out her arm and tapped the side of the cottage with her left paw. Dukee just stared at her but laid still. Mia then slowly walked about two feet away from the cottage but watched Dukee the entire time. Dukee slowly moved his head and eyes to keep a watch on Mia.
Mia then decided to get something to eat instead, “okay, you can stay there while I eat,” Mia said.
Mia walked over to the coffee table and jumped up onto it. She nibbled a few kernels and then glanced back. Dukee felt that this was the perfect time to sneak out. When Mia went back to eating, Dukee quietly crept out of the cottage. He then quickly walked behind the leather sofa.
While licking her mouth, Mia turned around. Before she even thought about hopping down, Dukee jumped up onto the side table. Mia jumped with surprise.
“You did it again,” Mia said.
Dukee looked over at Mia, “what? What did I do?”
Mia climbed up onto the kitty tower, “you scared me again.”
“Oh, well, stop being so jumpy,” Dukee snickered.
Mia huffed as she looked at Dukee.
“What? I'm sorry I scared you again,” Dukee said.
Because Dukee apologized, Mia was then satisfied. She crawled into the tunnel part of the kitty tower and looked out the window. Dukee also looked out the window from the side table. It's a beautiful day outside so there has to be some kind of critters around.
It is interesting how jumpy or easily spooked some animals or even people can be. I guess that is just another unique difference that each animal as well as us have.
Until next week, Mia and Dukee hope that you have a great one.
