Mia had just got done running towards her bedroom, slid sideways and bumped the wall with her side. She shook it off and walked into her bedroom.
Dukee was just let in from being out on the back porch for a few minutes. He meowed and meowed like he had a story to tell. His mom walked with him into the front living room when she mentioned squirrel and he had to see. So Dukee jumped up onto the side table and rushed to the window. Yep, there's a squirrel alright, he thought.
A few minutes had passed and Mia walked into the living room. She saw Dukee now laying on the blanket by the window. Mia jumped up onto the coffee table and looked over at Dukee.
“Do you know what one of your silly squirrels did?” Mia said.
Dukee looked at her and asked, “what? What happened?”
“Well, I was minding my own business and playing quietly when it jumped onto my bedroom window and woke up my mom,” Mia explained.
“Oh no. It might have been the same one that I saw while I was out on the porch,” Dukee said.
Mia peeked out the front window and then continued with her story, “when the squirrel saw mom move, it tried to climb all the way up.”
“Was it able to?” Dukee asked.
“No, it slid and squeaked like they do on this window. I tried to reach for it after I jumped up onto this thing,” Mia said as she tapped the window sill.
“I bet it jumped down when you did that?” Dukee asked.
“Yes and then Mom said, silly squirrel,” Mia giggled.
“That reminds me, did you see that squirrel yesterday when it jumped down from the roof and onto the pole that holds that feeder thing?” Dukee asked Mia.
“No, I must have been in the other room. It really jumped from the roof?” Mia asked.
“Yep. I was surprised that it didn't fall,” Dukee said.
“Wow, I guess they will do anything to get some food,” Mia said.
Mia then turned around and walked over to her food dish. She ate a few kernels and then hopped down.
Dukee glanced back at Mia and asked, “don't you want see if that squirrel jumps down off the roof?”
Mia stopped briefly and replied, “no, I think I might just take a nap.”
Dukee turned and looked back out the window while Mia left the living room.
The squirrels here have been little daredevils lately. I know that I will miss watching them after we move. Hopefully for Dukee’s sake he will be able to watch a couple squirrels at our new residence. I understand that there are quite a few cats in that neighborhood. Only time will tell.
Until next week, Mia and Dukee hope that you stay safe but have some fun.
Yes, squirrels can't be silly 😊
