After Dukee meowed loud enough for everyone in the house to hear, he hopped back down from the kitchen cabinet. Sometimes Dukee just has to remind everyone that he is around and in control of the house.
Dukee hopped down onto the bar counter and then down to the floor. He stopped and hit the ball that was sitting just about where he landed, and watched as it rolled into the hallway. Dukee ran after the ball and hit it again. The ball ricocheted off the wall and rolled back into the family room. Dukee ran after it and hit it again. This time Mia trotted out of her bedroom to see what Dukee was doing. She sat down next to the chaise lounge chair and peeked around the end of it. She watched Dukee as he jumped at the ball and tapped it with his paw. This time the ball rolled to where Mia was sitting.
Mia backed up as the ball hit her front paws. Dukee now looked in the direction of the rolling ball and saw Mia sitting there.
“Were you watching me again?” Dukee asked as he walked closer to the chaise.
Mia giggled, “yes, I heard you running around so I wanted to see what you were doing.”
“Oh, I’m just playing with that ball,” Dukee said.
Mia walked up to the ball and kicked it away from her. The ball rolled toward the hallway and they both watched it.
“So, what have you been doing? Dukee asked Mia.
“Just sunbathing,” Mia said.
“Oh… Do you want to play?” Dukee asked.
“No, not right now,” Mia said and turned to walk away.
Dukee watched as Mia went back into her bedroom. Okay, I guess I’ll go outside, Dukee thought. Dukee walked over to the sliding glass door and meowed. He sat down and waited to see if Auntie would come and let him out onto the back porch. Feeling a little impatient, Dukee reached up onto the side of the chair that sat by Grandpa’s desk and scratched on it. Dukee heard his name as it was shouted from the other room, but he knew that he had Auntie’s attention now.
After about a minute, Auntie walked over to Dukee and opened the door to the screened porch. Dukee noticed a lizard on the screen and ran over to it.
“Oh, you’re on the outside,” Dukee said as the lizard scurried up away from him.
So, Dukee hopped up onto the step stool outside and just looked around the yard.
Mia was on her and Mom’s bed again enjoying the sun ray that was shining in the window. She gingerly groomed the long fur on her tail while she soaked up the warmth from the sun. It was definitely a beautiful Sunday to enjoy, whether it’s laying in the sunshine inside of the house or getting fresh air out on the back porch. However you enjoy your day today don’t forget to be thankful for the simple things.
