Dukee was in the living room when he picked up his ice cream toy in his mouth. He meowed and meowed and meowed while carrying it. Each time he meowed, he got a little louder too. It was as if he was trying to get someone’s attention.
Dukee then walked into the hallway and dropped his toy. He slowly walked into Mia’s bedroom and looked to the right.
Mia lifted her head and asked, “what are you doing?”
Dukee stopped and said, “I was wondering if you wanted to play.”
Mia cocked her head while she looked at Dukee and then said, “have I ever played with you before?”
Dukee sat down and thought about what Mia said. He could have been hurt by what she said but instead he turned it around.
“Well, the last time you chased me, we were at the other house. Don't you want to chase me again?” Dukee said.
Mia sat up on the step thing that she was laying on and Dukee was prepared to run.
“You have to let me turn around first,” Dukee said.
“Why?” Mia asked.
“Because I don't think that you want me to jump up onto your bed, do you? Dukee said.
Mia thought for a moment and then plopped back down on the step thing. She licked the top of her left paw and then her right paw.
“I thought you were going to chase me?” Dukee said.
“You just assumed that I was,” Mia replied.
Dukee slowly turned around but kept a close watch on Mia while doing it. Mia giggled at Dukee because she knew that she had him wondering.
Before Dukee walked out of Mia’s bedroom, he said to her, “the sass is back.”
Mia giggled again and said, “yes I am.”
Dukee quickly walked out of Mia’s bedroom and went back into the living room. He jumped up onto his mom's chaise and then up onto the side table. He was disappointed that he could not get Mia to chase him but he knew that soon she would again.
Until next time, Dukee and Mia hope that you all stay cool and hydrated the best that you can.
