The Day With Dukee And Mia
Dukee was in his bedroom when he heard the door next door hit the wall. Then he heard Mia run quickly through the family room, past his bedroom, and down the hallway. It sounds like Mia is up now, Dukee thought.
Dukee hopped down of the stool and walked out of his room. He stopped and first looked toward Mia’s bedroom but didn’t see her. Dukee figured that she was probably in the front living room doing something. So, he walked down the hallway and stopped. He glanced toward the fireplace and then looked toward the dining area but didn’t see her there either. Dukee decided to walk into the living room to see if she was by her bowl eating. When he peeked around the kitty tower, he still didn’t see her.
“Are you looking for me?” Mia said from the side table.
“Oh, there you are. I figured that you had to be in here somewhere. Your door hit the wall again and I heard you run this way,” Dukee said as he turned and sat down.
“Yeah, when I ran out here, I saw some of those white birds fly down to the ground so I jumped up here,” Mia said and then looked back out the window.
“Are they there now?” Dukee asked and and tried to see.
“There’s only two that I see now,” Mia said.
Dukee walked over to Mia’s litter box cabinet and jumped up onto it. He quickly lowered his body so he wouldn’t scare the birds away.
“Where are they?” Dukee looked.
“They walked around the corner of that fence,” Mia said.
“Oh,” Dukee said and relaxed his body.
“So, what are your plans for the new year?” Dukee looked up at Mia.
“My plans are to learn to relax more and enjoy those around me,” Mia said.
“So, does that mean that you and I will play together more?” Dukee asked.
Mia looked at Dukee, “maybe.”
“Oh come on, it’s been three years now. I’m a good boy,” Dukee said and then licked the top of his right paw.
“I said maybe. And yes, most of the time you are nice to me,” Mia said.
“I know that I wouldn’t mind hanging out with you more,” Dukee said to Mia.
“Well, I also want to give my mom better attention,” Mia said.
Just then, Mia quickly sat up when she heard her Mom walk into the room. Dukee glanced back and saw Mia’s Mom put her cell phone down in her chair. It was time to be quiet since Mom and Auntie don’t know that Mia and Dukee can talk the human language. It would be disastrous if they found out. Two women and two talking cats, the conversations would be endless and Mia and Dukee don’t like to talk that much.
