Dukee was laying on the bed with Auntie when they both heard some noises in the family room. Dukee got up and looked towards the hall but his curiosity got the better of him. He hopped down off the bed and walked out of his bedroom with Auntie following behind.
There in the family room about fifteen feet from their bedroom was Mia. The stick with the toy on it, hanging on the wall was moving back and forth, and Mia just walked away from it. Auntie asked Mia if she was having fun and then went back into her room. Dukee sat down and looked at Mia and then the moving stick.
“Were you playing with that?” Dukee asked.
“Well, I was playing with my twist tie and as I tossed it, it landed behind that scratch post. So, when I went to get it out from behind the scratch post, I hit that stick,” Mia said.
“Oh, I see… You must have gotten a good nights rest to be so energized already this morning,” Dukee said with a yawn.
“Yes, I guess so, but nobody was up yet so I figured that I would just play by myself. Did I wake you and Auntie?” Mia walked over to the cardboard barn.
“Well, Auntie was awake but I was trying to nap,” Dukee said as he walked over to the rug in front of the sofa.
“Didn’t you sleep well?” Mia asked him.
“Yes, but I’m still tired,” Dukee said and then laid down.
“Oh, sorry,” Mia said and then stepped inside of the barn.
While Mia nibbled on some of the leftover catnip, Dukee yawned and stretched his left front paw out. But then, Dukee decided to see how the weather was outside so he got back up and walked over to the sliding glass door. He looked outside and then turned around and stretched and scratched on the wingback chair. When Auntie heard Dukee scratching on the chair, she came out from her bedroom and asked if he wanted to go outside. Of course I want to go outside Auntie, Dukee thought.
After Auntie let Dukee out onto the screened porch, she went back to her room. Mia finished eating the catnip in the barn and then walked over to the sliding glass door. She looked out to see if anyone else came for a visit again, but no, it was just Dukee sitting on the stool out there. Mia then heard Grandpa moving around in his bedroom and trotted around the wingback chair. She decided to then, see what her Mom was doing.
“Mom,” Mia meowed as she snuck through the space between the wall and the door.
Mia climbed up the fabric covered stairs at the end of the bed and saw her Mom watching something on the television. What are you doing Mom, Mia thought. Mom held her hand out so Mia walked up to her and rubbed her neck on her hand. Mom gave Mia some nice neck scratches until Mia walked over to her cardboard fish. Snack time, Mia thought as she munched on the kernels of food that lay on her cardboard fish.
When Mia was done eating, she jumped down off the bed and walked out of her bedroom. She then, walked into the bathroom and jumped up onto the sink counter. There on the counter was her other water bowl, so she got a drink. Mia likes having this new water bowl back here so she doesn’t have to go all the way to the front living room to get a drink. Before she finished drinking, she heard her Mom getting up.
“Yay, Mom’s getting up now,” Mia said and hopped down off the counter.
Mia likes it when her Mom gets up and goes to the front living room. We sometimes wonder if Mia is happy that her Mom leaves their bedroom so that she can have the room to herself. She will play with her Mom in the front living room for a while but then disappear back into the bedroom. She is a cat after all and cats love their naps.
Until next time, have a great week everyone.
