As Mia laid in the tunnel part of the kitty tower, Dukee sat on the side table and watched a small northern blue bird land on the wire that leads to the house.
“Do you think that the break that Auntie took from writing our story helped her?” Mia looked at Dukee and asked.
“Umm, I don’t know. Since I can’t read, I don’t know how good or bad her writing was to begin with,” Dukee said.
Mia looked back out the window but said, “that’s a good point.”
Dukee looked over at Mia and said, “she sometimes reads some of what she writes to me though, and I like the stories that sound like I’m picking on you,” Dukee snickered.
“What does she say?” Mia asked.
“Well, like when I stand in front of you and let you know who runs this house,” Dukee said.
“She doesn’t write that,” Mia said.
“How do you know? She reads it to me,” Dukee said.
“I know because I run this house, not you,” Mia giggled and backed out of the tunnel.
Mia jumped down and trotted around the leather sofa. Dukee quickly turned around and walked to the other end of the table.
“Hey, you might run this house but you don’t run me,” Dukee said and hopped down.
Mia glanced back and said, “yes I do,” and quickly ran down the hallway.
Dukee ran after her but stopped when she disappeared into her bedroom. That little turkey, he thought. Dukee heard Auntie R say something to Mia but he couldn't make it out. As Dukee turned around to walk away, Mia peeked her head out the door.
“I'm the boss,” Mia whispered and giggled.
Dukee stopped and glanced back at Mia before she ducked back into her room. She's not the boss of me, he thought.
“Only my mom can be the boss of me, and that's only if I let her,” Dukee said as he walked over to the sliding glass door.
As Dukee looked out into the backyard from the door, he saw a squirrel on the fence, “I bet I could be the boss of that squirrel.”
But being the boss of someone isn’t that cool. I’d rather be friends, Dukee thought.
Cats do present the characteristics of a bossy behavior sometimes. But, as a lover of cats, I know just how far it will be allowed. Dukee, being a Ginger Tabby is a pretty mild mannered cat. He can be a little wacko sometimes but I love him. Mia seems to be a mixture of a few breeds. Two of the breeds are mild mannered so that is why we believe there is a third. Because she is sassy most of the time.
As for my break from writing, it did help some but I missed it. There is one thing that I need to remember though, balance is important. With work and writing, it takes up a lot of my time. I must remember to get out and do something fun once in awhile. My favorite hobby is nature and that's where I am able to relax if its not too hot.
Update: The newsletter of, “The Day With Dukee And Mia” will now be only once a week. This will hopefully allow me to write other stories each week that might be of interest to you.
So until next time, Mia and Dukee wish you a great week.
Dukee looks like our Rusty did. He was such a lovey-dovey. He crossed over the Rainbow Bridge many years ago. We really miss him. Mia has beautiful green eyes. She may be sassy but is still family. Our Callie is the bossy one here. She is a Tortoise Shell calico. All three of these girls have me conditioned according to Paula. Sophie only eats when I put her food bowl on the eindow ledge in my sewing room. I caught Marie gettng a drink out of their water bowl in the kitchen do now I don't feel like I need to give her drinks from our water bottles. Callie thinks she needs the chair I sit in when we work puzzles or play games. She makes me get up to get her treats and while I get them she lays down in my chair and acts like she's sleeping. Sophie likes to sleep on the back of my recliner and she frequently holds my head between her paws or holds my hair with her teeth while she slerps. When we work puzzles she keeps coming to me crying. Paula says she is complaining that I am not where I am supposed to be i'd like t think I'm the boss here but I believe the girls really are., lol.
