It was around seven-thirty in the morning and we had just had a heavy rain. Dukee was laying on the blanket in the front living room and looking out the front window. Boy, that was quite a down pour we had, Dukee thought. He watched as a red cardinal flew down and landed on a small branch on the tree in the front yard. It started to sing a pretty song as if it was happy for the rain we just had.
“It sure does make a pretty sound,” Dukee said.
“What does?” Mia walked into the living room.
“Oh, good morning. I was just saying how nice that bird sounds,” Dukee looked at Mia.
Mia jumped up onto the coffee table and walked over to the window sill. She looked out the window and saw the red cardinal fluttering it’s feather’s.
“I wonder if that’s Harold,” Mia said.
“Oh, I didn’t even think of that,” Dukee looked around the tree for Carrie.
“If Carrie is around, I’m sure she’ll come and say hi to us,” Mia said.
“Yes that’s true, if she is around,” Dukee licked the top of his right paw.
When you miss someone who is not around as often or not at all anymore, that could be them telling you that they are with you in your heart.
Dukee and Mia want to wish you a wonderful weekend and father’s day to all father’s.
