Officer Reese asked if Jamie would be alright and then got into her patrol car and called the sheriff.
"Sheriff this is officer Reese. I'm just leaving the victim's house now. She has told me a crazy story. I'm not sure if I believe her."
"Reese, we will talk about that later at the station. Right now, go to the station and fill out the report. I'll be there later." Sheriff Brown said.
"I have seen many scenes but have never seen one as gruesome as this." Investigator Bigsby shook his head.
"Well, what do you think? Should we bring in a game and wildlife professional?" Sheriff Brown stood with his arms crossed.
"Well, I can honestly say that this was not done by any person… I'll call my team." Bigsby dialed his phone.
Because the remains of the woman were scattered around the area, they needed to be collected carefully. Bigsby’s team was the closet investigators in the area.
"Okay, I have to check on my officer. He was very shaken up when I talked to him." Sheriff Brown turned and walked toward his car.
When morning came, sheriff Brown called the fish and wildlife commission and explained the situation. They agreed to send someone but it wouldn’t be until the afternoon. In the meantime, sheriff Brown told officer Jons to post beach-closed signs along the business section hoping that people would abide by the law. Mr. Bigsby and his team continued to photograph and gather anything else that might give them a clue. Bigsby went down to the beach, where he found a scattering of what looked to be fish scales but only larger. He remembered he saw the same scales near the area where Philip and the last victim were attacked. This puzzled Bigsby so he called the sheriff to see if he got a hold of the wildlife commission.
Later That day, sheriff Brown and Investigator Mr. Bigsby were to meet with Joseph Gunn, a marine biologist near the pier. When they arrived, they were surprised to see Mr. Gunn slush his way out of the water wearing full snorkeling gear. Gunn saw the sheriff, pulled off his foot fins, and trotted up to him and Mr. Bigsby.
"I see that you have already checked out our beach." The Sheriff shook Mr. Gunn's hand.
"Yes, I believe in diving right into the job." Mr. Gunn said.
The Sheriff and Bigsby grinned at each other while Mr. Gunn rattled off about his thoughts.
