Shrimp And Bonnie Find A New Friend
Shrimp and Bonnie were hopping and jumping around each other while playing in the pasture, when something caught Shrimps eye. Shrimp walked up to a tall thistle plant and stared at the bright green caterpillar that clung to the top of a leaf.
Bonnie hopped over by Shrimp, “what did you see?”
“Look at how pretty it is,” Shrimp pointed.
Just then, the caterpillar looked up at Shrimp and Bonnie, “well hello there.”
“Hi… I’m sorry for staring at you but you are so pretty,” Shrimp said.
“Oh, thank you… But just wait until I come back in three weeks. I will be even more beautiful. At least I think so,” the caterpillar said.
“Three weeks? Where are you going?” Bonnie asked.
“Well, it’s not that I am leaving to go somewhere, but I’ll be right here changing,” the caterpillar said.
“Changing? What do you mean?” Shrimp cocked her head.
“I have lived my life so far as a caterpillar, but now I’m ready to change into a butterfly. I just have to spin my cocoon around myself in order for that to happen,” the caterpillar explained.
“Do you mean that you will become one of those beautiful butterflies that fly around all over the farm?” Shrimp asked.
“Yes, I will, after about three weeks as a cocoon,” the caterpillar said.
Shrimp and Bonnie looked at each other and then back at the caterpillar.
“Well, I’m Shrimp and this is Bonnie. What’s your name?”
“Oh, you can call me Jasmine.”
“It’s nice to meet you Jasmine,” Shrimp and Bonnie both said at the same time.
“How will we know when you have changed into a butterfly?” Shrimp asked.
“Well, when you visit this plant that I will be attaching myself to and you only see a shell left, that means I have changed and am flying around. But don’t worry, when I see you, I will stop by and say hello,” Jasmine said.
“Oh, okay. But until then, I’ll make sure that nobody disturbs this plant while you are on it,” Shrimp said.
“Yeah, me too,” Bonnie looked around.
“Well, thank you very much. Now, I’m going to start my process now, so I will see you in three weeks,” Jasmine said.
“Okay, see you then,” Shrimp watched Jasmine.
“Have a nice sleep,” Bonnie said.
Jasmine laid still on the leaf while Shrimp and Bonnie watched.
“Maybe we should go and give her some space,” Bonnie looked at Shrimp.
“Yes, you’re probably right. I wouldn’t want someone staring at me while I’m trying to do something,” Shrimp turned around.
Bonnie hopped alongside Shrimp as they headed toward the barn.
Bonnie then stopped near the garden, “I’m going to nibble on some lettuce.”
“Okay, I’ll see you later. I’m a little hungry myself,” Shrimp said. “But don’t let farmer Joe catch you,” Shrimp continued on to the barn.
I can’t wait to see how pretty Jasmine is when she comes back as a butterfly, Shrimp thought.
