Sad And Concerned

For any of you who read my writing might have noticed me to be missing part of this week. The thing is, I am very concerned about my cat Dukee. Almost a week ago his appetite started to slow down. I noticed that he left his tongue out more often and would have a little drool on his mouth after sleeping.

I called around to a couple of vet clinics and they did not have any immediate availability. So I waited another day. I found another clinic and they could see him that day. It was ninety five dollars just to look at him. Dukee of course was upset and agitated so they had to inspect his mouth during growls and hisses.

They told me that it looks like Stomatitis and that he might need a full mouth extraction. Of course I became upset and concerned. How is he going to eat with no teeth I asked. They told me that animals adapt to it and they start off with soft food. Okay but do you have a payment plan?

They told me that they would need half of 3,000.00 down. Okay, I am in between jobs after relocating and do not have anywhere near that kind of money. What can I do for him today I asked. They told me that I could give him steroids for a short time. Okay, so after calling family and getting another forty seven dollars from them for the medicine, they gave him the first dose.

Here at home through Dukee’s understandable fight with me, I have been able to give him the medicine three times. Now he hates me and does not trust me. When he sees me, he runs. He occasionally comes out of hiding to nibble on some food and use his litter box. I need to get him more medical attention but I do not have anywhere near half of 3,000 dollars.

I just do not understand why you can go to the hospital as a human for care and receive a bill later but you can not do the same with a veterinarian…

I am going to talk to another vet clinic and see what they say but right this moment, I am sad and concerned. I did set up a go fund me page if you are able to help. Anything will help go to his care. Please, pray for Dukee because I love this boy and he does not deserve this discomfort.
