Rose looked at her new curtains as they hung there around the window. Yeah, I think I’ll make a set for my bedroom window, she thought. She knew that the length would be the same but the width would need to be bigger. I think that I should have enough material, she thought. Rose walked over to her sewing table and looked at the amount of fabric that was still there.
“It should be enough. It’s not like I’m going to close the curtains,” Rose grabbed her pins.
As Rose started to work on her next set, her cell phone rang. She got up and saw that it said, Mrs. Miller.
“Hello?”
“Hi, Mrs. Miller… Yes, I’m sorry that I didn’t get back to you,” Rose said.
Mrs. Miller asked Rose if she could stop over today, so Rose agreed and told her that anytime would be fine.
“Okay, I’ll see you later,” Rose hung up her phone.
Rose wasn’t sure if she wanted company today but sometimes you just have to go with the flow of things. She might even learn more about her grandma as a person. I could go for some more coffee, she thought. Rose took her cell phone and picked up her cup, and walked downstairs. She glanced out the front screen door as she passed it and saw a red-headed woodpecker fly down and land on the tree branch.
She backed up and watched the woodpecker as it hopped around on the branch. It pecked at the branch a couple of times and then flew off.
“I guess the tree didn’t have any good food hiding,” Rose walked to the kitchen.
The coffee pot had already shut off and the coffee was cooling down. Well, I’ll make an iced coffee then, she thought. She rinsed out her coffee cup and set it in the strainer. Out of the cupboard, she took one of her tall glass glasses. She walked over to the freezer section of the fridge and put some ice in her glass. Then she poured some lukewarm coffee into the glass and added her sweetener and creamer. I haven’t had an iced coffee in a while, this tastes pretty good, she thought.
Rose decided to sit down and see what was on the television. She took another drink of coffee and then put it on the coffee table. She flipped through the guide and found the old show, “Golden Girls” and turned it on. A little humor will do her some good anyways. Seeing the senior ladies on TV made Rose wonder why Mrs. Miller wanted to come over so badly. I wonder if she has something about grandma that she needs to tell me, she thought.
“Oh well, I’ll know soon enough,” Rose sat back and enjoyed the show while drinking her iced coffee.
