It was around 5:30 pm and Rose woke up from a sound sleep. She put her feet on the floor and sat up. A different movie was now playing on the television. She stretched her arms up over her head and sat there for a moment. Boy, I guess I was tired, she thought. Rose stood up and walked into the kitchen so she could make some tea. She turned the stove burner on and set the teapot full of water on it.
She took her teacup out of the strainer and set it on the counter. She walked over to the back door and looked out the screen. There was a nice breeze blowing in through the screen. Rose walked back to her cup and put two teaspoons of sugar into it from the sugar jar. As she was standing by the counter waiting for the water to heat up, her cell phone rang.
Rose walked into the living room and picked up her cell phone from the coffee table. She saw that it was Josh calling her, “Hi Josh.”
Josh told her that he was just checking to see if she was alright and if she needed anything.
“No, I’m doing okay. I woke up from a nap a few minutes ago. Thank you though for checking up on me, it’s very sweet of you,” Rose said.
Rose wished Josh a nice evening and hung up her phone. Just then the teapot started to whistle so Rose rushed into the kitchen. She poured the hot water into her cup and put the pot back onto the stove. She took a chamomile tea bag out of the cupboard and dunked it into the hot water in her cup. She carried her cup, tea bag, and all with her into the living room. Rose put it down on the coffee table and picked up the remote to see what else was on TV.
She found a show named “Chrisley Knows Best” and left that on. She’s seen it a few times before and thinks it’s funny. Right now, something that makes her laugh is a good thing. Rose stirred her tea and took the teabag out. She squeezed the water out of the bag and left it on the spoon.
“I think that this would be something the doctor would order. Chamomile tea and laughter,” She said.
Rose watched the show and also a male and female cardinal that fluttered around outside of the bay window. That’s interesting, she thought.
“I guess seeing those cardinals is a good sign that I can handle all of this,” Rose watched as they flew into the tree in the front yard.
Rose picked up her cup and took a drink of her tea. She went back to watching the show when her stomach growled. I am getting a little hungry, she thought. She went back into the kitchen and took a premade bowl of fruit out of the fridge. It had some watermelon, pineapple, and green grapes in it. She grabbed a napkin and carried them into the living room. Rose plopped back down on the sofa and enjoyed the fruit.
After watching a few episodes of “Chrisley Knows Best” it was just about 7:30. Rose ate half of the fruit and finished her tea. She got up to shut and lock the front and back doors. And she put the rest of the fruit back inside the fridge. Rose was going to take a shower before bed and do a little reading. So she shut the television and desk light off and went upstairs.
