When Rose finished her second cup of coffee, she went back inside the house. She closed the door behind her and walked to the kitchen. She rinsed out her cup and set it in the strainer. I’m sure that first load of wash is done, she thought. Rose opened the basement door and trotted down the steps. She put the clean laundry into the dryer with a Gain fabric sheet. Then she put the rest of her dirty clothes into the washer and started them both up.
As Rose started to walk back up the stairs, the doorbell rang. She hurried up the steps and to the front door. Rose thought it was going to be Josh but when she opened the door it was her delivery.
“Good morning ma’am, we have a delivery for Rose Connor,” the delivery man said.
“Yes, come in. Can you please take it upstairs? I’ll show you where,” Rose opened the door wide.
Rose trotted up the stairs and the men carried the large long box up the stairs behind her. They followed her into her new sewing room and set the box down.
“I’ll get the chair, you can get the dress form,” the one delivery man said.
Both men hurried down the stairs and out to the truck. The one man carried the dress form and the paperwork up the stairs.
Rose thanked him and signed the delivery paperwork. He then walked back down the stairs and back to his truck. The other man came back inside with her new chair and carried it up the stairs.
“Here you go Ma’am, have a nice day,” He put the chair down and left the room.
“Thank you,” Rose called out.
Rose was all smiles while she ripped the box open. Her new sewing table just had to be unboxed and put into place. Just then she heard another voice.
“Hello… Rose?” Josh called out.
Rose hurried to the top of the stairs and saw it was Josh, “good morning Josh. Can you come up here for a minute?”
Josh hurried up the steps and followed Rose into her sewing room.
“I have a question for you and you can refuse if you want to. I have some things like this bed that I want to be taken to the Salvation Army, would you be able to do it?” Rose looked at Josh.
Josh looked the bed over, “You’re getting rid of it? May I have it?” Josh asked.
“Oh, you want it? Sure, you can have it,” Rose smiled at him.
“Thank you… But yes if you have other things that you need taken I can do it for you,” Josh said.
“Well, the only other things right now are down in the basement. Two boxes of canning jars,” Rose said.
“Okay, I’ll load all that after I’m done mowing the yard,” Josh smiled.
“Okay, sounds good,” Rose went back to ripping the box off of her table.
Josh trotted down the steps and walked out the front door. He closed the door behind him and got the gas can from the back of his truck. Josh mowed the two acres while Rose organized her sewing room. She set her table in the center of the room on the antique rug facing the window. That way she can still enjoy seeing the outdoors while working. She unpacked her sewing machine and placed it on the table. She ran an extension cord to the one wall and also plugged in a lamp.
“Now all I have to do is go to Joann Fabrics… Maybe tomorrow,” she said.
Rose walked downstairs and glanced out the front window as she walked through the living room. It looked like Josh was almost done mowing the front yard.
