Rose got up from the table with her cup and set it in the sink. She looked at the window that was there and thought, I’m going to need a stool or ladder. It just so happened that her grandma always had a two-step stepstool tucked away next to a rolling cart by the other window. Because it was already there, she pulled the stool out, stepped upon it, and took down the valance and curtains on that window.
She carefully pulled the curtain panels off the one rod and set it down. She let the panels drop to the floor. Then she took the valance off the other rod and set it down. Rose picked up the stool and took it over to the window by the sink. She took the panels and valance down from there and got down. Again she took the rods out from the curtains and set them aside. She moved the small pile of curtains close to the basement door.
Rose wanted to wash the bathroom curtains with the kitchen curtains because they were all sheers. So she walked out of the kitchen and into the hall by the stairs and made a right. The downstairs bathroom was right there. It had a small window above the bathtub in there. After she got those down she tossed the panels onto the kitchen floor as she passed it. She trotted up the stairs to the bathroom up there. That one also had a small window above the bathtub.
Just as she got the curtains off the rods, she heard a knock at the front door. She held onto the curtain panels and trotted down the stairs. She opened up the door and thin, blonde, muscular Josh was standing there.
“Hi, I just wanted to let you know that the railing is done and I will be painting the floor now… I don’t recommend anyone walking on it for at least a day,” Josh said.
Rose smiled, “okay, are you going to hang a string or something so no one walks up the steps?” Rose asked.
“Yes, I can do that for you,” Josh wiped his forehead with his arm.
“It’s getting quite warm, isn’t it? Would you like something to drink?” Rose leaned on the door frame.
“No, I’m okay for now but thank you,” Josh turned around and trotted down the steps.
Rose just smiled as she admired how tight the blue jeans were on Joshes cute buttocks while he went down the steps. His muscular biceps gleamed with sweat as his white t-shirt sleeves were rolled up. She slowly backed into the house and closed the door.
With a big sigh… “Oh my goodness Rose, get a hold of yourself.”
She hadn’t seen someone so cute in a very long time. Ever since her fiancé broke up with her a year ago. Rose took the curtains that she had in her hand and carried them into the kitchen. She picked up the other bathroom curtains and walked over to the pile by the basement door. Rose opened the door to the basement and realized that she needed to grab the detergent from under the sink.
Rose picked up the Gain detergent from the cupboard and then scooped up all the curtains panels and valences. She turned on the basement light and carefully went down the steps. She walked over to the whirlpool washing machine of her grandma’s and dropped the curtains in. After rearranging them inside, she poured her soap in and started the machine.
“Now I can get up in that attic,” she trotted up the basement steps.
Rose walked through the living room and peeked out the bay window at Josh. She then went to the stairs and grabbed the box with the knickknacks in it. Up the stairs, she trotted, and over to the attic door. I’ll put this box up in the attic because I’m sure that there is a lot of stuff up there already, she thought. She went to turn the light on that goes up the attic stairs but nothing happened.
“Hmm, I guess it needs a new lightbulb.”
Rose carefully climbed the stairs and as she got toward the top she could see light coming in from the window that was up there. Just as she expected, boxes and Christmas decorations, and a lot of other odds and ends were everywhere.
