Rose found it to be strange that so many of uncle Ralph’s things were there at the house. I don’t want to get rid of any of it just in case he wants it, she thought. Rose picked up the daisy vase from the table and washed it in the kitchen sink. I think that I will put this on the coffee table, she thought. She dried it off and walked into the living room with it. She put the vase on the table and stepped back.
Just then her cell phone rang, “Hello?”
It was the cable company and they had an opening. They asked her if she wanted someone to come today. She accepted the offer, that way she can watch some television tonight. They told her the technician would be there in about an hour.
Rose decided to roast a chicken for dinner tonight, so she pulled it out of the refrigerator along with some raw carrots. She dug out the pan that works with her air fryer oven and wiped it out. She unwrapped the chicken and set it in the pan. She added some salt and other seasonings to the chicken. The carrots were pre-peeled and cut so all she had to do was layer them in the pan. She turned her air fryer oven on to preheat and set the pan aside.
In the pantry cupboard, she pulled out a bag of long-grain white rice and set that on the counter. She will make that a little later. Once the oven was preheated she slid the pan inside. There, that’s easy enough, she thought.
Rose knew that the bathrooms could use a good cleaning since she hadn’t done that yet. So she grabbed some cleaning supplies from under the kitchen sink and walked to the bathroom right down the hall. Because the curtains were down, she figured the window would be a good place to start. I know that as grandma got older she wasn’t able to clean the house as well, Rose thought. The window itself was pretty dirty.
She decided to take down the old shower curtain in that bathroom and throw it away. Most likely she won’t be showering in there anyways. She wiped down the shower walls real well and cleaned the tub the best that she could. She cleaned the sink and toilet well too. The towels that grandma had hanging in there looked like they needed washing. So she took them down and tossed them into the kitchen.
When she was done in that bathroom, she went upstairs to the bathroom she was already using. The towels that she switched her own for were sitting in a small basket in the sitting area. So when she goes back downstairs she has those towels to wash too. I think that I will change out this shower curtain, she thought. She took it down and tossed it out the bathroom door. Rose cleaned the window above the tub and continued with the rest of the bathroom.
Overall it took her about an hour to get both bathrooms clean. Although she didn’t do the floors yet. Just then she heard someone pounding on the back door. That must be the cable guy, she thought. She grabbed the small basket and hurried down the stairs. She trotted into the kitchen and opened the screen door for him.
“Hi, come on in,” Rose said.
“Hi, I’m Bob from Spectrum,” He walked in.
“Nice to meet you, Bob, I’m Rose,” she showed him to the living room.
Bob looked at where Rose had her television and asked her if that was where she would have it sitting most of the time. She told him most likely but one never knows. Bob figured out where he was going to create a cable port and got to work. Rose mentioned that she wanted internet too and he already knew that.
“I will let you do your thing then,” Rose said.
“Thank you,” Bob got to work.
Bob also had to hook up the whole wiring system since that house never had a cable running to it. So he was there for a couple of hours. Josh had even come back to finish the second coat of paint and fix the shutter on the one window. After Bob had left Rose was able to invite Josh for dinner but found out that he did have a girlfriend. She was disappointed but not heartbroken.
