Niko, Turk, and Loto sat down near the river and could see the construction site in the distance. They planned on setting up camp there until night time when the humans would leave.
Nock and Rum finally reached the national forest that they heard about and flew inside. The large beautiful trees seemed endless and no humans or buildings were seen.
“Look at how lush this forest is. Even if humans do come in here sometimes I think that there is plenty of room for all of us,” Nock scanned the area.
“We need to find the water source though,” Rum reminded Nock.
“Yes, you’re right. Let’s go.”
So, Nock and Rum carefully flew through and around the sporadic pattern of the trees in search of water. They still documented and made visual markers in order to find their way back. Until they get to know this forest better, they have to take necessary precautions.
As Nock and Rum got deeper into the woods, they heard what sounded like rushing water. Nock flew to the right and Rum followed close behind him. After about fifty feet or so they found a large stream. It wasn’t a river like what they were used to but this stream had plenty of flowing water.
“The way this water is rushing, it must lead to a bigger supply,” Nock said as he fluttered near the stream.
“Yes, I would say so, but that might mean humans too,” Rum said.
“Yes, that’s true,” Nock glanced around at the natural stone that lined part of the stream bank, “let’s check out the area and see where we could build our village.”
Rum and Nock still flew around to scope out the area before they landed to observe it better.
Back at the village, it was early evening and Tia asked Pa if he knew why Loto and Turk were packing flint and kindling. Pa looked curious and told her that he wasn’t sure but was going to look into it. Pa finished his blackberry drink and then walked over to his brothers place to see if he knew anything, but Drew didn’t hear of any trip either. Drew suggested that he and Pa take a walk over to Nikos place to find out. Niko’s hut was completely dark and no one answered.
“Maybe he’s at Otto’s place with Sunshine,” Drew said.
So, as the two of them headed toward Otto’s two huts, they saw Morrow out in his front yard. Pa asked Morrow if he knew where Niko was.
“Oh, good, good evening Coss and Drew. Beautiful night tonight isn’t it?” Morrow said.
“Yes it is. Do you know if Niko is with Sunshine?” Pa asked.
“Um, no… Niko went out to look for a new forest for us all,” Morrow said.
“But he didn’t seem too interested in that yesterday,” Pa observed Morrows facial expressions.
