It was a muggy, dark, night when Angela decided to walk home from her friend Cathy’s house. She took her usual route but came across a group of trucks and trailers with carnival equipment on them. The street lamps shined enough light so that she could see as she glanced around them. Most of the rides were still on the trucks, and no one was around. But as Angela walked on, she began to hear some soft music. Music like from a music box.
Angela was curious but concerned when she saw the yellow glow of something at the end of the street. She needed to go that way in order to get home though. As she got closer and closer, the music got louder and louder. She didn’t even see a single soul on the street but yet music was playing.
“Where is that music coming from?” Angela slowed her steps down and looked around.
Suddenly, the yellow glow brightened and she looked to the right. There she saw a large gold colored carousal with horses and tigers, and even panda bears on it.
“Wow, a carousal. It sure is pretty,” Angela walked over to it.
The music that was playing reminded her of when she was a little girl and received an old music box in the mail.
“I don’t think that it would hurt to take a look,” Angela stepped up onto the sparkling carousal.
She walked around and looked at each of the beautifully painted creatures until she came to the tiger. Angela climbed up onto it and sat down. She was in awe of how beautiful this ride was even after it started to slowly turn.
“Is someone there?” she called out.
With the bright lights around her, she couldn’t see if anyone was out on the street. She glanced around as the carousal started to speed up and the tiger that she was on went up and down. The music also changed to a spookier tune.
”Hello, I’d like to get off now,” Angela looked out at the street as the carousal seemed to go faster and faster.
The lights started to flash off and on while she held the pole tight. The creepy music got louder and louder too until everything just stopped and went completely dark. Angela now sat still in the dark. She didn’t even see the street lights anymore. Slowly she climbed off the tiger and carefully felt her way around. When she stumbled off the carousal, she still couldn’t see anything. The air even felt thinner now.
“Hello? Can someone help me?” Angela reached out with both hands as she tried to feel for something.
There was nothing though. No sound, no light, no nothing. Angela was all alone in the dark so black that it seemed like a world of nothingness. Am I dead, Angela wondered.
She stomped her foot but felt nothing below it, “I must be dead. But when did that happen?”
All of a sudden, Angela started to have trouble breathing. She couldn’t get any air into her lungs. She grabbed her chest and fought to breathe until she soon passed out. Her lifeless body fell and fell into the dark nothingness until she awoke in a hospital room. She slowly blinked her eyes as she saw light around her and heard her mother’s voice. Angela then heard the doctor say that she was lucky to be alive.
Later the next day, Angela found out that while she was walking home, the big truck that was hauling the carnival carousal didn’t see her and hit her. Thankfully the truck was only backing up at the time and not driving full speed. Angela does have a broken leg and her body is bruised but she will recover. She told her parents about the dream she had and wondered how it felt so real. Do your dreams feel real sometimes? Maybe they are in another world.
The End
Great story with a lesson to learn. This proves to not go near areas that are not set up for events.
I love that you added the music !
