Near the shed and behind the barn was Bonnie the bunny and her babies. Shrimp watched Bonnie with her babies from pasture fence. Shrimp observed how Bonnie would corral her babies if one would hop to far away from her. While Shrimp slowly walked toward Bonnie and her babies, Bonnie called out to her.
“Shrimp, come here,” Bonnie looked at Shrimp.
Shrimp trotted toward Bonnie at first until the baby bunnies started to scurry around. Shrimp knew from her experience that seeing something bigger than you coming toward you can be scary, so she stopped. Then, slowly, Shrimp walked toward Bonnie and her babies.
“Hi Bonnie, how’s it going?” Shrimp asked as she stopped a few feet away from her.
“It is going great. They are getting so big aren’t they?” Bonnie said as she looked at her babies.
“Yes they are and they’re even cuter,” Shrimp said as she took another small step closer.
Just then, two of the baby bunnies sniffed the air and then hopped over to Shrimp. Shrimp stood still while the bunnies sniffed her and her face.
“It looks like they like you,” Bonnie said.
“This one looks like me,” Shrimp said as she looked at the bunny with a slight orange tint.
“Yes she does,” Bonnie giggled.
After a few minutes of the two bunnies sniffing Shrimp, they started to hop around by her. Shrimp did one little hop along with the bunnies and they seemed to like it. As they hopped some more around Shrimp, Shrimp hopped again.
“I think they do like me,” Shrimp said and hopped again.
Just like that, Bonnies other babies hopped over to Shrimp and joined in the fun. Even though a couple of the bunnies tried to jump onto Shrimps back, Shrimp knew that she had to be careful because they were smaller than her. Bonnie just watched while her babies had fun with her friend. She knew that Shrimp would be a good playmate for her babies.
While the baby bunnies hopped around, Shrimp laid down to see if one of them would climb on top of her. Just as she did, the little orange tinted bunny hopped on Shrimps side. Shrimp rolled over and gently hugged the baby bunny in her arms. Bonnie just watched to make sure that Shrimp wasn’t too rough with her baby. When Shrimp let the bunny go, she hopped around Shrimp and then jumped on top of her again.
“It looks like you have a new friend Shrimp,” Bonnie said.
“It does look like it doesn’t it? Does she have a name yet?” Shrimp asked.
“Yes, her name is Pumpkin,” Bonnie said.
“What a cute name, Pumpkin. Come here Pumpkin,” Shrimp called out.
Shrimp played with Bonnies babies for about a half an hour before Bonnie hopped into the shed.
“I’ll talk to you later Shrimp,” Bonnie said as she laid down.
Bonnies babies saw their momma go into the shed and knew that it was time for them to eat. Pumpkin saw her brothers and sisters hop into the shed so she followed along.
“See you all later,” Shrimp said as she peaked into the shed.
Shrimp turned around and trotted toward the pasture. She saw Tiger playing with something not far from Rambo the bull. Shrimp couldn’t wait to tell Rambo and Tiger about her and the bunnies.
“Hi Tiger, hello Rambo… Guess what I just did?” Shrimp looked at the stick that Tiger was playing with.
“Hello Miss Shrimp, what did you just do?” Rambo asked.
“I was just playing with Bonnies baby bunnies, and there’s one that looks just like me,” Shrimp said.
“Oh, that’s nice,” Rambo said.
“How can a bunny look like a cat?” Tiger asked.
“Well, it’s her color that looks like me and her name is Pumpkin,” Shrimp hopped around.
“Is she round like a pumpkin?” Tiger asked while he took a break from chewing on the stick.
“No, she’s just a cute little orange tinted bunny,” Shrimp said.
“She sounds lovely,” Rambo said and then chewed on some grass.
“Yes, lovely, they all are and fun to play with,” Shrimp said and then plopped down.
The sun was warm and the day was beautiful. Shrimp laid down and watched her brother Tiger wrestle with the stick while Rambo nibbled on the grass. A day at the farm was anything but dull with all the animals and sticks to play with.
Please join me again for more fun on the farm with Shrimp and Tiger.
